The Women Behind BDx: Meet Kelly Ho – Service and Delivery Manager

The fifth episode of our empowering blog series, The Women Behind BDx, leads us to Kelly Ho, Service and Delivery Assurance Manager for BDx based in Hong Kong.

Kelly Ho, a yogini who won the Data Center Solutions Award for most data center racks sold in a single bid in 2015, believes in leveraging challenges for growth opportunities and always believes in herself. As the face of the industry continues to evolve, Kelly is growing with it and is a symbol of BDx’s own evolution and strength.

What makes BDx different from other places you’ve worked?

BDx is in rapid growth mode, expanding its footprint globally. I’ve had to face many challenges in the past year, but I’ve always been supported by leadership and have been met with transparent communication and consistent encouragement.

What, in your eyes, sets BDx apart from its competition?

BDx is very customer-focused, from its product offerings to post-sales support. BDx is very dynamic and offers customized solutions to suit different customer demands. This, coupled with our global service desk that provides round the clock after-sales support with customer experience excellence, makes BDx stand apart from its competitors.

How would you describe the BDx culture?

Challenging. Employees are motivated and challenged so that we can learn, grow and evolve.

Tell us about your typical day at BDx?

During a typical work week, one of my tasks is to assess the progress on operational projects. I meet regularly with the commercial team in order to update order fulfillment statuses and with project managers to be updated on their progress and to prepare management reports.

What is most challenging about being a woman in technology?

Technology is a male-dominated field. Across the industry, women may receive less praise for their contributions in the workplace. However, this unconscious bias is not found in BDx’s open culture. We have many female professional team leads across sales, business and support functions.

What traits define you?

Patience, cooperation and understanding.

Who’s your favorite female inspiration?

Marie Skłodowska Curie. She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, the first person and the only woman to win the Nobel Prize twice, and the only person to win the Nobel Prize in two scientific fields. Marie spent years experimenting to prove the existence of radioactive substances. To me, the lesson is, if you believe in something, keep trying and have faith that there will be good to come of it.

Favorite technology?

Smartphones! They improve our lives in so many ways, from making free global calls to researching while on the go, and they are even able to relieve stress.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Practice yoga to increase my flexibility, muscle and joint strength. It is also effective in promoting mental health.

Words of Wisdom

“The pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The optimist sees opportunity in every difficulty.”

– Winston Churchill
